Digital Evidence Handling Proficiency Testing

ISO 17043 Accreditation
ANAB Certificate #: AP-2941

The same high quality used in the creation and execution of the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification process has been applied in the formulation and distribution of the digital evidence handling proficiency tests. A comprehensive policy surrounding this testing program can be found here.

The primary goal of the ISFCE is not only to produce high quality proficiency tests, but to also make the proficiency testing process as streamlined and trouble-free as possible for subscriber laboratories. To achieve this goal, delivery of test materials will be available via download and submission of test reports will be via upload. Additionally, reporting to subscriber laboratories will be via email and website posting. These conditions may be subject to change.

This program is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17043:2010 standard under the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). The certificate and scope of accreditation can be viewed here.

Test Distribution

The ISFCE has four proficiency test distributions scheduled in 2023. The most current distribution will be released on February 15, 2023.

This test assesses proficiency in the following areas:

  • use of write protection
  • media imaging
  • establishing hash values
  • creating a file listing
  • active file recovery
  • deleted file recovery
  • recovery of data from unallocated space

The following tests may now be subscribed to:

  • 23-0101 - To Be Announced
  • 23-0201 - To Be Announced
  • 23-0301 - To Be Announced
  • 23-0401 - To Be Announced

These tests may be subscribed to either as an "external" or "internal" subscriber. For each of these the test distribution itself will be identical. Where they differ will be the number of reports that will be released following assessment of the report submission. For internal subscribers, a series of reports will be returned that will outline the test's manufacture, assessment points, individual assessment results and statistical results for all participants. These are meant primarily for internal use only. For external subscribers, your group's assessment results may also be submitted to an accreditting body. This is meant to assist in attaining or maintaining accreditation.

  • External one time use proficiency test - $600.00
  • Internal one time use proficiency test - $350.00
