ISFCE Criminal Record Policy 5.0

Criminal Record Requirement:

The CCE applicant must not have a criminal record as defined by the ISFCE. The ISFCE Certification Body will not certify an individual with certain types of criminal records, as detailed in paragraph 2 below.

ISFCE Definition of a Criminal Record:

A criminal record that impacts certification eligibility is defined as follows:
  • A conviction within or outside the United States for any sexually related offense or crime of moral turpitude.
  • A conviction within or outside the United States for any crime classified as a felony, or where the resulting penalty is 1 year or more of imprisonment.
  • If no sentence is received, the maximum possible sentence in the jurisdiction where the conviction occurred will be the deciding factor.
  • Any conviction for sexual battery or a similar sexual offense, even if the resulting sentence is less than 1 year of imprisonment.

Professional Credibility:

A CCE candidate/member with a criminal record may face credibility issues in professional settings.

Post-Certification Convictions:

The CCE certified individual must not be convicted of a criminal offense, as defined above, after receiving certification.

Certification Revocation:

Conviction of such an offense while certified will result in the revocation of certification.

Current Sentences:

Individuals currently serving a sentence for any such offense will not be considered as CCE candidates.

Historical Convictions:

Individuals seeking CCE certification with a disclosed historical conviction will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the ISFCE.
